Akinobu sat down in the middle row. He was not looking forward to this movie... What kind of name is 'Once a Year'* anyway?! Still, he had won a ticket and Mitsune and Chihiro had both refused to go see it, so instead of letting it go to waste, why not simply watch it? It can't be TOO bad... Can it? He put his cell phone on silent while feeling absent minded and leaned back. There was several good reviews about it but he couldn't help but think that the movie could only end in two ways*.
"...Well, been a while since I last saw a new movie, so why not?" he mumbled to himself and ate some of the popcorn he had bought. "Still... What was it that Chi-chan had said? "I'd rather go to war completely unarmed than having to watch that movie for a second time"? Something like that?" he mumbled to himself. Chihiro had apparently seen it with her class once and... She had been anything BUT impressed with it. Mitsune - who had a cold on that day - hadn't seen it but it was also not really her kind of movie. "So... It's about two people who meets once a year on a hotel and... Do some shit...* How bad can it be?" he mumbled and ate some more popcorn. "Still, it can't be TOO bad... I hope..." he mumbled as someone sat down next to him. "...Didn't expect to see you here. Popcorn?" he said and held the can towards his new seat neighbour.
(OoC: Once a Year is the literal translation of a Swedish film. I've seen it and I'm not gonna lie, don't watch it, if you can help it. And like it says, you'll get the feeling VERY fast that the movie can only end in two ways. It did not disappoint. Finally, yes. The summary of the movie that he says is seriously what it's about. A man and a woman has met each other once a year for the past 30 years or something. He's obviously in love with her and has divorced from his wife. She refuses to divorce from her husband because plot. Bottom line, don't watch it, if you can help it.)

"So huh, I think our chairs are somewhere around here?" "Row H." Nadeshiko confirmed once more their seats on the tickets. For the first time in awhile she was making a visit to the cinema. It was a pity that Kotaro couldn’t make it. He was busy with the restaurant’s accounting. "Go have fun. As for me, I'll be relaxed enough when I finish this. – he scoffed, then added in a gentler tone – ...I’m sorry. We’ll do something another time to compensate for it. " He had said. Well, it made no sense to stay sitting behind him as he made calculations ... And then he -had- bought two tickets, and it was too late to return them now. *sigh* Just when she thought they were going to be able to have some time for themselves...
“Here. Oh ... Akinobu-kun." " Heh ... " Chou behind her made a face that quietly said 'you again?' Before following up to her. "Hm?" Nadeshiko gave her a curious look, that she took a second to interpret. "Oh. Right." She moved over a little and sank into the chair beside Aki. "...Didn't expect to see you here. Popcorn?" he said. She grabbed a handful, watching him warily. "I didn’t know you liked this kind of movie as well ..." she said quietly (...) "Ah no, the one who seems interested in watching it is okasan. She always had a thing for foreign films and whatnot." Chou made an expression of who enjoyed remembering something "She was supposed to come here with Otousan but he had a setback, so ... Here I am as a last minute replacement." She helped herself to more popcorn "Any idea on what the movie is about? I don't know anything besides the fact that it’s swedish."
Beside her Nadeshiko took things from a bag. It was the first time in a long time she appeared in public with western clothes: a coffee dress with a cream colored long coat, her black hair in a beautiful bun. She looked quite elegant. Quietly, she opened a bag of mints and put a can of iced tea (probably Chou’s) in the cupholder, her hands moving in the same gentle way that she used to put the plates and glasses on the tables of the restaurant. Probably by sheer force of habit. "Candies?" She offered. Chou took one before turning to Akinobu again. “…A-Ah. I see?” So that’s the kind of movie that she was going to watch with dad. No wonder Dad had Otani staying at home with him. “Let's hope it's good at least. I can take almost anything as long as the plot is decent…”

(In advance, I'll point out what happens. I've only seen the damn thing once so expect a lot of shit to be in wrong order but eh... It'll give you a basic idea, at least.
Movie starts with the man (I forgot their names; I'll just refer to them as Robert and Eva for the duration of the thread) entering a hotel and meets with the woman. They speak for a bit and she notices his wedding ring no longer being on his finger. He explains he divorced from his wife and that he's moving to France. Yeah... That's weird but w/e. Random scene and they hug/kiss and Eva says "this is the last time". Um... What. They talk for a bit and for some messed up reason (this is literally like 9 minutes into the movie; I know as I checked my cellphone at the time) they randomly split up... Uh... Okay. She's seen walking in the rain (it's now late at night DESPITE IT BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY LESS THAN TWO MINUTES AGO). Then they're randomly back in the hotel. "What int the actual fuck happened?" was my literal brain transcript at that point. They then spend most of the movie doing NOTHING but talking about various uninteresting shit. I mean, when not having sex. No wait, wrong of me. They do that WHILE having sex as well. Yeah... Movie is stupid. Anyway. They talk some more and uh... Let's... Randomly have some more sex. And bath naked. In the hotel pool. No, really, they do. Then all of a sudden he leaves the room, she tries calling him and with (some extremely shoddy editing), she throws away her cellphone after not getting in touch with him. Oh yeah, did I mention that at some point, he said he was going to live in the hotel for a conference? No? Oh. Well, there's that, too (note: said conference never happened). She also says he should dye his hair and she (FOR SOME REASON) brought everything required to dye hair. So they dye it. Despite him saying IT'D BE A BAD IDEA TO DO SO. Ten minutes later, his hair is gray again. Wait... What? He then randomly leaves and comes back, calls for room service for some ice cream. It shows up (off-screen) and they eat the ice cream, have some MORE sex, speak some more and he randomly talks about how they should get married. Eva refuses to marry him ("as she loves her husband and family too much") and they speak SOME MORE. Robert can't get over the fact she totally doesn't love him (...seriously) and they speak SOME. GOD. DAMN. MORE. And have some more sex. I think. I stopped paying attention like 60 minutes ago - the movie is about 90 minutes. No joke. So... They randomly speak some more and they leave the hotel. She's driving a car and crying (because I honestly don't know why) and he's on a train. And... The movie ends. With Robert looking depressed and her crying. What. The. Fuck. Like I said, most shit is probably in the wrong order but eh, you get the rough outline. It had no plot, it was a mess and downright just shitty. Akinobu, Chouko and Nadeshiko watching it after me describing it? WELL THIS WILL BE A DAMN FINE CHALLENGE.)
"Like this kind of movie? Not really," he said and leaned the popcorn can towards Nadeshiko, who merely raised a hand as if to say 'no thanks'. "I just randomly applied for a contest out of boredom and won a ticket. Chi-chan refuses to re-watch it and Mitsu-chan said it's simply not her type of movie. Weird as she loves romantic movies... Ah, it's starting," he said and looked towards the screen.
The start of the movie seemed... Promising, to say the least. It was shot in... What town was it again? Damn it, he had read what it was called but now it slipped his mind*. He quietly ate some of the popcorn and took a quick look around. The theatre was almost full - maybe four or five open seats at most. "God damn, I didn't expect it to be THIS much of a hit..." Akinobu said and turned his attention back towards the movie. Two people were sitting in what he assumed was a hotel cafeteria and talking. Since the movie was in Swedish, the subs were in Japanese. "Good thing it's subbed at least..." Akinobu said and opened his Cola bottle and drank some of it, before taking a bite of his candy. With it being a Swedish movie, he had gotten a popular kind of candy from Sweden; it was a limited edition thing but it seemed tasty. "Let's see... Ma... Ma... Maho... Mara.... Bo...? Huh? I don't see a bo* anywhere... No wait, Ma-ra-bo-u..." he said and opened the bright yellow package. There was only one kind to choose from - milk chocolate, according to what the translation had said*. He broke off a small piece of the block chocolate* and handed to Chouko, did the same with another piece and handed to Nadeshiko and took a third piece for himself. He personally enjoyed it - it was quite sweet but not sweet enough to get a sugar rush from it. "Heh... Tasty," he said calmly and ate some more popcorn. Meanwhile, on the screen, the two of them were outside their hotel room. The woman hugged the man and said (according to the subtitles) "this is the last time". "...Last time for what...?" Akinobu tilted his head, not having payed much attention.
(OoC: I honestly don't recall what town. I think it took place in Gothenburg. Marabou is the name of the candy he bought. They come in several different kinds, such as milk chocolate (considered default), fruits and almond, hazelnuts among others. Bo is a kind of staff. Donatello uses it in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Akinobu just assumed they meant the weapon when he read it. The chocolate is a typical block chocolate, divided into lines. Each line got 4 pieces (on large ones) and 3 pieces (on smaller ones). Akinobu bought a large one, in case you're curious. Akinobu pronounces it as "Ma-ra-bo-u" which is almost correct; the U is silent.)

"I just randomly applied for a contest out of boredom and won a ticket. Chi-chan refuses to re-watch it and Mitsu-chan said it's simply not her type of movie. Weird as she loves romantic movies... Ah, it's starting," he said and looked towards the screen. "Hm." Chou just gave a brief nod before turning her attention to the screen.
The room quickly became full after that. "It seems popular..." Now she couldn't help to think why Mitsune didn't like it...I mean, if it was an unusual romance movie, it was to be expected a smaller public right? Then why?
Then the actual movie begun. Swedish souded strange to her ears. Chou wasn't really sure which part of the phrases matched to certain words in the subtitles, so she couldn't determine what kind of tone the actors were giving to their sentences... Well, at least she could read their expressions. Foreign people were normally very expressive when compared to the japanese, a fact she learned from observing her mother's dramas.
At some point Akinobu handed some sweet for her and her mother. "Thank you." "...Mm. What's this... ?" She took a small bite. It was... Sweet, but not too sweet, and quite crunchy. There were more almonds than she expected. "Mm... This is delicious...! Please keep the wrapping, I want to know it's name later." Her mother gave a small smile at her side and Chouko smiled as well. Good, she seems to be in a better mood.
Maybe it was only her, but she felt like the beginning was lacking... She hoped that after the character Eva said "this is the last time" the film would turn a 360 like some french movies begin showing something of essence. Unfortunately for her... No, they countinued talking about things that didn't make much sense, at least up to now. Well... I can only hope that something will change soon. Maybe they'll show us their past with flashbacks or something, then work around that.
Chou accidentally dropped a small (thankfully closed) bag of M&Ms at some point, and leaned down to grab it. She felt around the floor to find the package hidden beneath the seat right in front. When she got back up in her seat, it was suddenly raining.
"What did I miss?" she whispered her question towards Aki, who simply shrugged. His face said 'Not much.'
Then the scene cut back to the hotel. Hm... Seems like this movie is going to be one of those that is hard to understand if you dont piece the scenes together... She opened her iced tea can with her right hand, trying to not miss what was going on again.

"...So she's suddenly... Walking in the rain... Really? Why?" he mumbled to himself and ate some of the popcorn. He was starting to understand why Chihiro hated the movie. Chihiro and Mitsune were known for loving romantic movies but this one... "Gods, I think they're trying to communicate!" he said as sarcastically (only loud enough for Chouko to hear) as possible when they were all of a sudden back in the hotel room and talking to one another. He was surprised at the fact it contained almonds; while he didn't mind it, he assumed it was a faulty product. Then again, it's not like he could read Swedish (only one of his cousins could... And he'd be damned if he was going to text someone in the middle of a movie - no matter how shitty it was!) All of a sudden, he felt a weird urge to leave the theater. He couldn't put his finger on WHY, but he felt as if something was horribly off. "Huh, that's weird... I normally only get those reactions when---" he began as he noticed the characters beginning to have sex in the movie. "...Shit." he turned towards Chouko; it was impossible to tell if she was red due to blushing or trying to contain her laughter while Nadeshiko looked... Worried, put mildly. "...Nadeshiko-san? Are... You alright...?" Akinobu said worried and looked at her. "I-I'm fine it's just... I mean, this... That is... I mean..." she said. "...More candy?" he handed her another piece of the chocolate he had bought. She quietly accepted it as he turned back to Chouko. "Y'know what'd be great right now? If a gang came storming in so I had an excuse to leave the movie to beat the shit out of them... And whoever the hell that created this movie. What the hell is even GOING ON..." he muttered. A lot of people seemed to share his viewpoint; he noticed a few people leaving the theater. He was guessing they weren't coming back to finish the movie any time soon.
